International Scientific and Practical Symposium, Uzbekistan, Tashkent, August 17-18, 2022

SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF SELECTION, SEED PRODUCTION AND AGROTECHNOLOGY OF GROWING COTTON IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN IS 100 YEARS OLD.

On August 17-18, 2022, the International Scientific and Practical Symposium was held in the city of Tashkent (International Hotel) on the topic “Achievements, innovations, technologies and prospects for the development of agricultural science and the textile industry”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the organization of the Research Institute of Breeding, Seed Production and Agrotechnology cultivation of cotton in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

More than 300 scientists and specialists from 15 countries of the world took part in the work of the International Symposium. The international symposium was opened with a welcoming speech by the Director of Research and Development of Breeding, Seed Production and Agricultural Technology of Cotton Cultivation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, Professor Ravshanov A.E.

At the symposium also welcomed by: Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Water Management of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mamutov R.A., Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khamraev Sh., President of the Academy of Sciences, Professor Ibragimov B., Chairman of the Association “Uzbeksteel Industry » Khaydarov I.O., Head of the Cotton Department of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shamsiev A., Chairman of the Association of Cotton and Cotton Clusters of Uzbekistan Rakhmatov M.A., President of the Russian Association “Seeds” Kuzmin I.I. and others. Also, representatives of the delegation from Turkey, India, Russia, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and others spoke with congratulatory words to the Research Institute of Selection, Seed Production and Agrotechnology of Cotton Growing of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The participants of the Symposium especially joyfully accepted the Congratulatory letter on behalf of the President of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, Academician Farhod Rakhimi in honor of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Breeding, Seed Production and Agrochenology of Cotton Cultivation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In the scientific reports of scientists, it was noted that the Research Institute of Breeding, Seed Production and Agrotechnology for Growing Cotton of the Republic of Uzbekistan is known as one of the leading research organizations that has made a significant contribution to the development of agriculture in Central Asia. The achievements and merits of this institute are very great in the training of highly qualified personnel and scientists in genetics, selection and seed production of cotton and other crops.

During the years of the existence of the Soviet Union and in subsequent years, scientists of world renown conducted their valuable scientific research at the Institute: I. A. Dorman, S. S. Kanash, B. P. Straumal, V. A. Kovda, M. A. Pankov , S. N. Ryzhov, N. M. Mannonov, V. M. Legostaev, P. V. Protasov, B. Sanginov, L. V. Rumshevich, V. B. Eremenko, Z. S. Tursunkhodzhaev, K. M .Mirzaionov, N.N. F. Bespalov, I. I. Madraimov, G. A. Bezborodov, V. P. Yarovenko, B. G. Aleev, B. M. Isaev, Sh. Nurmatov, V. P. Kondratyuk, A. E., Avlekulov , R.Sh. Tillaev, B.M. Kholikov, Sh.Ya. Teshaev, N.M. Ibrokhimov, F.A. Scriabin, V.G. Berezovsky, M.A. Sorokin, A. Toropkina, M. Roydensky, V. Mukhanova, P.V. Bodrov, M.R. Yunusov, N.N. Zelenina, M.S. Mirakhmedov, M.P. Mednis and many others. Initially, the Institute included the Central Plant Breeding Station, the Central Plant Protection Station, the Central Fertilizer and Agro-Soil Science Station, the Central Cotton Agrotechnical Station, the Akkavak Central Irrigation and Agrotechnical Station, as well as experimental cotton production stations in Turkmenistan, Tajikistan , Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. These stations were subsequently separated as independent scientific institutions in different Soviet republics in Central Asia. Numerous varieties of cotton, created by scientists-breeders of the Institute and its research stations, are grown on more than 90% of the area of the entire area of cotton in Uzbekistan. Varieties of cotton scientists of Uzbekistan are also grown in many cotton-growing countries of the world.

The use of methods and scientific recommendations developed by the scientists of the Institute on the selection of agricultural crops allowed the breeders of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and other scientific institutions of the Central Asian republics to create new promising varieties of cotton and other crops.

It should be noted that the holding of the International Symposium in Tashkent was strongly associated with the disclosure of scientific and practical achievements of innovations, technologies, as well as the prospects for the development of agricultural science and the textile industry. During the symposium, the participants paid special attention to highlighting the problems, solutions and results of research carried out by domestic and foreign researchers.

Numerous problems were discussed at the international symposium, which were of great theoretical and practical importance, the solution of which will improve the economic efficiency of agriculture and the textile industry in many cotton-growing countries of the world. The participant of the symposium made their reports in the following scientific sections of the symposium: the gene pool of agricultural crops; general and molecular genetics, biotechnology; breeding, seed production, crop production and plant protection; general and irrigated agriculture, cotton growing and grain growing; melioration and resource-saving technologies; agrochemistry and soil science; agricultural machinery; textile industry; computer science and technology; engineering; energy and economy.

On the second day, the participants of the symposium visited various departments and laboratories of the Institute of Selection, Seed Production and Agricultural Technology of Cotton Growing of the Republic of Uzbekistan and got acquainted with the practical scientific developments of the Institute’s scientists. By the beginning of the Symposium, the materials of scientific articles by scientists from different countries of the world were published and they were handed over to the participants.

At the end of the Symposium, the participants expressed their sincere gratitude to the leadership of the Institute of Breeding, Seed Production and Agrotechnology of Cotton Growing of the Republic of Uzbekistan, donors and all the organizers of this scientific and practical event in the city of Tashkent, for a warm meeting and hospitality at a high level. Thus, the past Scientific and Practical International Symposium of scientists from around the world in Tashkent city contributed to further strengthening of scientific cooperation between scientists to increase the adaptive potential of agricultural plants to climate change, improve the economy and improve food security in the future.
